Summary
This role is a blend of Infrastructure/Network maintenance and Data Management supporting Acuigen’s networks, systems and CustomServe technology ensuring that the company maintains operational servers, systems and processes with 365/7/24 availability.
You will take an active role in managing data and contribute to supporting information security, Confidentiality, Integrity & Availability (CIA), business continuity services and general IT support to the business.
Salary Guide - £30,000 - £38,000 plus bonus for being on rota, Simplyhealth cash plan benefits, onsite café, free car parking, countryside location not far from junctions 13 or 14 of the M1, located on the Cranfield University campus.

Candidate Information & Skills
Essential Technical skills
-
Good understanding and experience of network maintenance (including Firewall, AD, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP)
-
Azure administration, with an appropriate certification or experience
-
Experience of managing data within databases (SQL Server & Access) and spreadsheets, and extracting relevant content for analysis

Outstanding diagnostic, problem-solving and analytical skills

Good communication skills

Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies

Hands-on experience with common software and hardware

Understanding of WSUS and/or implementation of patching devices..

Essential Availability
-
Located within 20-30 minutes travelling time of Cranfield with own car transport to travel into the office

Be able to participate in a Duty IT Roster, attending offices out of working hours to deal with an IT Incident (server failure etc.)

Willingness to work flexibly outside normal working hours during periods of job/software rollouts/maintenance upgrades, or when a time critical date is approaching.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Netowrk Maintenance
-
Providing full availability of all networks and data securely 365/24/7, monitoring and report on performance. Report network KPI to the Senior Network Engineer and CIO weekly
-
Install, configure, troubleshoot and upgrade servers, computers, networks and associated equipment
-
Maintaining an effective and reliable backup system and provide emergency recovery support of our infrastructure
-
Administering and maintaining web and database servers, firewalls and associated hardware
-
Monitoring current reports of computer viruses to determine when to update virus protection systems
-
Supporting WSUS, VPN and similar services
-
Providing technical support to all members of the company including all aspects of Microsoft Office/M365 and CustomServe software
-
Inspect LAN infrastructure and fix minor or major problems/bugs
-
Test and configure software and maintain and repair hardware and peripheral devices
-
Design and install well-functioning computer networks, connections, and structured cabling
-
Perform troubleshooting to system failures and identify bottlenecks to ensure long term efficiency of the entire network
-
Evaluate network performance and find ways of improvement
-
Organise and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their own work
-
Provide technical direction to co-workers on computer and network usage and offer comprehensive advice and instructions.
Data Management
-
Set up and maintain databases
-
Put questionnaires into Visio and test, as required
-
Set up and test CustomServe with questionnaires for both CATI (computer aided telephone interviewing), CAWI (computer aided web interviewing), F2F (Face to Face) and Ad hoc data input programmes

Process data and ensure its accuracy
-
Create accurate fieldwork reports and deliver to clients
-
Set up, test and manage CustomServe online service reporting tools
-
Refresh the online reporting services
-
Accurately compile and validate data in Excel, Access, Word, PPT or other package, creating accurate queries and tables and deliver to clients
-
Assist with the preparation of Word reports and PowerPoint presentations
-
Test and verify new and existing software ensuring data accuracy, integrity, functionality, security and look and feel

Provide data support for both internal and external clients
-
Undertake and interpret statistical tests on data
-
Ensuring safe and secure storage of data
-
Perform risk assessments and execute tests of data processing systems to ensure functioning of data processing activities and security measures.
Confidentiality, Integrity & Availability

Implementing and maintaining ISO 27001:2013 (Information Security)
-
Monitoring use of data files and regulate access to safeguard information in computer files through the use of tools like DLP
-
Setting up user accounts, permissions and passwords
-
Monitoring network usage and security providing regular reports to the Senior Network Engineer
-
Providing training and technical support for users, including InfoSec sessions
-
Reviewing, enhancing and maintaining IT security
-
Conferring with users to discuss issues such as computer data access needs, security violations, and programming changes
-
Modifying computer security files to incorporate new software, correct errors, or change individual access status
-
Coordinating implementation of computer system plan with establishment personnel and outside vendors
-
Advocating for successful recovery from an IT business incident.
Administration
-
Developing plans to safeguard computer files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure and to meet emergency data processing needs
-
Maintaining up to date network diagrams and disaster recovery plans
-
Documenting computer security and emergency measures policies, procedures, and tests
-
Reviewing violations of computer security procedures and discuss procedures with violators to ensure violations are not repeated
-
Supporting the maintenance and auditing of IT assets.
