Exciting opportunity - we're recruiting a Business Development Executive

The Role

This is a structured, execution-focused role responsible for generating and qualifying new sales opportunities. You will own early-stage pipeline activity, creating well-prepared opportunities for senior team members to progress and close. This is not a generalist role. It requires consistency, attention to detail and the ability to follow defined processes. Reporting to the Client Services Director, and based at Cranfield Innovation Centre, Cranfield, with offsite meetings, attendance at events and conferences.

Key Responsibilities

Target Account Development

  • Maintain a defined list of target organisations
  • Identify relevant senior stakeholders and track developments
  • Prepare concise briefing notes to support outreach and meetings

Structured Outreach

  • Run structured outreach sequences across email, LinkedIn and events
  • Use consistent messaging and follow-up rather than ad-hoc activity
  • Secure meetings with appropriate senior stakeholders
  • Attendance at events and conferences

Lead Qualification

  • Assess relevance, timing and stakeholder fit
  • Ensure meetings are well-prepared and purposeful
  • Provide senior colleagues with clear context for each opportunity

Pipeline Management

  • Maintain accurate and disciplined CRM records
  • Ensure every opportunity has a next step, owner and date
  • Track pipeline progression and highlight gaps or risks

CustomServe Demonstrations

  • Introduce CustomServe at a high level (3-minute) overview, but delivery of demos and later-stage sales activity is led by senior colleagues
  • Set context before a demo
  • Prepare demo briefing notes
  • Ensure the right stakeholders attend
  • Follow up after demos

  • Consistent flow of qualified meetings with relevant organisations
  • Well-prepared engagements that progress efficiently
  • Clear and accurate pipeline visibility
  • Strong contribution to new business opportunities

Candidate Profile

Experience in business development, sales or a commercial role

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Clear and professional written communication
  • Confident engaging senior stakeholders
  • Comfortable working with structured processes and measurable targets

Personal Attributes

  • Process-driven and reliable
  • Consistent and disciplined in execution
  • Commercially aware and motivated by contributing to growth
  • Comfortable with repetition and continuous improvement
  • Lives within 40 minutes travel time of Cranfield (MK43 0BT)
